Harald Krüger

Born in Delmenhorst, Northwest Germany

He studied physics and astronomy at Göttingen University/Germany and Edinburgh University/UK.
He completed his PhD at Göttingen University on the research topic galaxy evolution. Then he had postdoc positions at Heidelberg/Germany, first at Max-Planck-Institute (MPI) for Astronomy and later at MPI for Nuclear Physics, before moving to his current position at MPI for Solar System Research at Katlenburg-Lindau/Göttingen/Germany. His research fields cover astronomy and planetary science, and he has been actively involved in many space missions and pursuing theoretical studies.

In recent years he has been a repeated visitor at PERC. His research focusses on small bodies in the solar system, cosmic dust and plasmas, comets, aiming at a better understanding of solar system formation and evolution.

In his spare time he enjoys learning the Japanese language and culture.
